Who works for the government?

As the world’s largest employer, there are 16.8 million people working for the government world- wide.  As the Baby Boomers reach the critical retirement age, there will be a large void left in the workforce that drives the government.  In fact, over the next 5 years approximately half of all these employees are eligible to retire.  With this in mind, there are consistently openings if you know where to look and what to apply for?  To counteract the natural attrition that any business faces, the government hires over 300,000 employees every year and 80,000 are in law enforcement. As a Government employee, you now have limitless opportunities and flexibility, due to the status and recognition you have earned from your government service.  The advantage of being a current employee is that you can transfer job-title and location while working toward the same pension.   Once you have received the necessary experience, the opportunities expand rapidly.  Your experience earns you a spot at the top of any vacancy announcement.  If you choose to continue your education, educational reimbursement and benefits are provided at the expense of your employer so long as it pertains to your current position.
