Career Opportunities

When people think of government service they tend to think of only 2 areas: Law Enforcement and the Post Office.   What they don’t know is that the greatest opportunities are waiting for them in other areas.  There are 35,000 different job-titles that include any job that can be found in a private sector such as clerical workers, administration, mechanics, park ranger, immigration, or customs agent.  Of course, the only real difference between what you see every day and what is found in the government is who your employer is and the benefits and compensation you receive because of it.

What most people are unaware of is that they may start in one position but transfer at a later date, due to the experience they gained in their entry-level position.  One of the trade secrets of working for the government is that you will have opportunities throughout your career to increase your status in a particular position or if you wish transfer job title altogether.  Again, if you are aware of this, it will make your job search more complete if you have the understanding that just because you begin in one job, it doesn’t mean that you have to remain there.
